Long Hair I DO Care!
A word of advice to new naturals and those who are getting frustrated with their hair, it takes PATIENCE and low manipulation to get to your hair goal! Oh and don't try to hold on to that little length you finally got and not get your ends clipped because it will not last long. Healthy hair over lengthy hair is my motto. And as of right now my hair is under my bra clasp although I didn't set a length goal I'm sure its soon because I'm somewhat getting overwhelmed (Lol).

My First Twist-n-Curl!!!
Doing the curl at the bottom of my twist was a random act of "let me see what it'll look like." But unfortunately I didn't think about how it would feel like sleeping with all those dang rollers in my head. I was extra geeked the next morning to take my hair down.
The results........
So yeah my hair looked good until the rain and the humidity got a hold of it -___- I was too upset to take a picture for the aftermath. But I've decided that the next time I try it I won't do the banding method. I think that stretching my hair and doing a twist and curl didn't hold as good as just twisting and curling after washing. So I hope the next time it would be way better.

My 90s inspired updo
So all last week I was trying to decide what I was going to style my hair like for a "90's" party I was going to this past weekend. Because I rarely do updo's I thought that it would be a good time to do so anyway since the cold weather is slowly approaching. So after watching "House Party" checking out some music videos and even watching some episodes of "A Different World" I realized that in the early 90's women were kind of wearing their hair like women of the 50's but with a twist. Not including the "dooky braids" that was 90's at it's finest. But I basically just did what I thought was 90's era-ish. Hope you like it!

Faux Hawk Twist Galore
Very, very, late on posting this. But, I have to say this is one of my favorite styles I've ever done! Although it took up a lot of time and electricity from using the heating pad to heal my sore arms. I am quite impressed with myself for having the patience and the strength to stand up the whole time to complete this look. However, I had to finish the top the next morning This style will be done more often, not anytime soon though. Hope you like the style because I definitely think its a good look and my Granny would be proud ;)

Stretching Method
No, this has nothing to do with exercise although I do feel a little tense. Anyway I came across an article on my favorite natural hair sites youtube.com. Yes Youtube, Blackonyx 77 did a video on stretching your natural hair using ouchless hair bands without the use of any heat! Isn't that exciting!? It was for me because I have acquired some heat damage from not only straigthening my hair but also blowdrying it. It's a sad thing when heat damage plays apart because you can feel like you're transitioning all over again(smh). After watching the video I got up and ran to Walmart, bought the whole section of ouchless scrunchies and went to work! I slept with the bands in overnight. However, the next morning I had to go to work and had to take them out and of course my hair was still damp, so I braided each section and put it a ponytail so it could continue to dry. After keeping the braids in for two days I finally took them out and I must admite like this method way better than using heat to stretch. I am definitely an advocate to finding alternatives from using heat so kudos to Blackonyx 77 for educating me on this method.

One of my many Twist Styles
So at first I wanted to do an updo but it was getting kind of late and I had class the next day. So I decided to do something simple and to the point. This particular style I did, going straight back and out, is a new one for me. And I like it! But for my next hair date I want to practice doing updos simply because winter is about to roll around and I want to keep my hair protected as often as I can and also because I want to retain lots of length. I noticed that throughout my natural hair journey I have only done one updo style so this is kind of a must! Hope you all like it.
Fall Fever: My hair is getting thirster
Oh how I just love the Fall. It is my favorite season of them all! The clothes, the boots, the colors, need I say more? But most of all the Fall season is also the time where the natural hair community switches up their hair regimen. The transition of the weather climate is fairly important for natural hair, because its all about moisture retention. And for me moisture is a must! I am so excited to try new products and new styles that I took a nap just to get the power I need to stay up and do my hair (this is an all night task). The challenge for me for this upcoming cold front is trying to find a great deep conditioner and some oils that will keep my ends sealed throughout the day. So when I find those things I will do a review on how well they are working for me. As far as moisturizers go I found my two FAVORITE ones, Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter, which I purchased on a whim at Macy's on State Street. And Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie just from a local Walgreens. These two moisturizers really work well on my dry hair and I will be using these products as my staple must haves for fall/winter moisturizers.
